BULLDOG SECURITY 1
HEALTH & SAFETY POLICY
Policy Statement
Bulldog Security 1 Ltd recognises the importance
of safety, health and welfare to the succesful operation of our activities,
and believes in the active participation of every member of staff in order to
achieve and maintain the highest practicable standard of accident prevention.
All relevant statutory requirements will be complied with at all times. These
will be regarded as a minimum standard and where reasonably practicable, will
be exceeded when it is necessary to meet the spirit of this policy.
It is the duty of management to ensure that staff members are informed and receive
adequate Health & Safety training, and that tasks are only allocated to
individuals deemed capable of fulfilling them in a manner that is safe to themselves
and others around them. All staff members are required to understand their responsibilities
and duties and to carry them out.
It is our policy to formally assess potential risks, and through good organisation,
planning and communication, minimise the risk and apply protective measures
to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the Health & Safety of all.
The aim of the company is to set and maintain high working standards of Health
& Safety. Regular reviews of all practices and procedures will ensure that
any necessary improvements are implemented.
It is important to us to provide a safe and healthy working environment for
our employees. As a minimum standard this will be achieved by compliance with
EU and UK Government directives. At all times we will endeavour to provide adequate
measures and controls to minimise risk, however, we rely on the support and
co-operation of all employees to achieve this. Failure to comply with guidelines
jeopardises saftey and can result in disciplinary action being taken. We will
liaise closely with our clients to identify risk and encourage all employees
to highlight potential risks or make any safety recommendations.
HEALTH & SAFETY - LONE WORKERS
As part of our Health & Safety commitment to our employees, we are aware that there may be times when employees are alone in certain locations. It is important to be aware of the following procedures and requirements:
1. Induction must be completed by the employee before commencing work on any new or unfamiliar location. This is provided by ourselves or, in certain instances, by the main site contractor.
2. Log sheets are provided and must be used to record all events and times. This includes booking on/off times and mobile patrol visits.
3. Telephone calls must be placed to the main control room at booking on time and thereafter every hour until booking off time. Check calls form part of the BS7499 requirements and it is vital that every lone employee follows this procedure for their own safety. Failure to call at the required time will result in mobile patrol being dispatched and the possibility of emergency services being informed.
4. Incident forms must be completed for any security or safety breaches. The control room must also be informed and a mobile patrol may be dispatched. All log and incident sheets are collected and stored by the company.
5. Employees are reminded that any incident, accident or self injury must be reported to the control room immediately.
It is vital that all lone employees follow these requirements to protect their own safety and welfare.
HEALTH & SAFETY - INTRUDERS
It is important to acknowledge that the possibility of encountering
intruders is a very real one in our line of work. It is paramount that all individuals
treat their personal safety as their priority. We NEVER expect any of our employees
to risk their own safety. With regard to intruders follow the procedures detailed
below:
1.You may verbally challenge any suspected intruder with a clearly detailed
request requiring the reason(s) why they are on site.
2. If dissatisfied with the response, you may inform them that control and emergency services will be informed.
3. You may not physically challnge any intruder. Monitor and await back-up.
4. You must be sharp and aware. For example, note down any descriptions, car details, registration numbers etc.
HEALTH & SAFETY - PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT (PPE)
Depending upon the different requirements for various types of site, personal protection equipment (PPE) may be issued. It is imperative that this equipment, when issued, is used correctly. If PPE is issued to an employee, then full operational instruction will be given. If in doubt about the use of any PPE then always ask for complete clarification and re-training if necessary.
